Having a driving instructor teach me how to drive more safely is kind

Having a driving instructor teach me how to drive more safely is kind of making me nervous. I have been driving for over 20 years and I still get nervous with someone else is in the car with me. Especially a driving instructor, because they are watching every little move you make. It kind of works at your nerves just a little bit.Maybe I should havebrought my bike with me in case something happened to my car. OK, maybe that is just the nerves talking. I'm sure I won't need my bike.
These driving schools probably make a lot of people nervous, and why wouldn't they? It's very intimidating to have someone sit in the passenger seat of the car you are driving and not talk and just write things on a clipboard as you drive. I don't know about you, but that is not my idea of having a good time.
So, it is my turn for the lesson, and the driving instructor assigned to me, gets into the car and tells me to parallel park. I have been practicing this parking for almost 2 weeks and I was sure that I couldpass this part of the lesson. But my nerves were getting the better of me. Turns out that I did a spectacular job and moved on into the driving part of the lesson. The insurance groups probably get a kick out of some of theselessons the end up in an accident, and yes it does happen. But I was not going to let this happen to me today.
I relaxed and moved out into the traffic when my driving instructor told me to go to this empty parking lot so we could work on the safe driving techniques. It wasn't so bad, and the instructor warmed up a bit and started to joke around with me, which put me to ease. About an hour into the instruction, he said that he felt that I was ready for the final test. I felt like I was ready too. Most of my nerves were gone and I felt pretty confident that I could pass. So I went where he instructed me to go. I stopped at every stop sign and did well out in the heavy 5 o'clock traffic. Everybody was driving their absolute worst to hurry home to their families. I stayed calm and relaxed and at the end, I passed the test.
